Natural Gas Processing + Dew Point Control
Joule Processing offers Joule-Thomson (J-T), Straight Refrigeration and Cryogenic plants as standard options for natural gas processing and dew point control. We also offer a variety of plant components, auxiliary equipment, control packages, skid mounted plants, turnkey plants, gas separators, filter separators and natural gas liquids (NGL) storage tanks.
Joule-Thomson (J-T) Plants

Click to Enlarge A Joule-Thomson (J-T) plant is a self-refrigeration plant that uses a drop in gas pressure to cause a gas chilling effect. The plant condenses heavy hydrocarbons out of the gas to meet required pipeline specifications while removing excess liquids that may condense and cause transmission problems. These liquids are recovered and stored for fractionation into saleable hydrocarbon components including purity propane, natural gasoline and butane.
Our standard J-T plant is skid mounted and designed to be loaded on a flatbed truck. Each model is designed with three flanged customer connections (gas inlet, gas outlet, liquid outlet) pre-piped to the edge of the skid. All units include optional methanol injection ports with distributor for low temp refrigeration.
Joule Processing offers J-T plants for sale or lease in four standard sizes:
| JT-2 Unit | 0-2 MMSCFD | |
| JT-5 Unit | 2-5 MMSCFD | |
| JT-10 Unit | 5-10 MMSCFD | |
| JT-20 Unit | 10-20 MMSCFD |
Refrigeration Plants

Click to EnlargeStraight Refrigeration plants use an external refrigeration system, typically propane, to chill the incoming natural gas stream to as low as -50° F. The condensed natural gas liquids (NGLs) are separated in a three-phase cold separator where injected glycol is removed from the NGL. The product’s cold residue gas exchanges heat with the warm feed natural gas stream for pre-cooling. The NGLs from the cold separator are stabilized in a De-Ethanizer Column and sent to pressurized storage or further fractionation.
Our Refrigeration plants are custom designed and constructed skid mounted for simple installation and mobility purposes.
Cryogenic Plants
Cryogenic plants are used to recover ethane from the natural gas stream. In cryogenic applications a turbo expansion process chills feed gas to significantly lower temperatures possible with J-T or Straight Refrigeration plants.
Our Cryogenic plants are custom designed and constructed skid mounted for simple installation and mobility purposes.
Condensate Stabilization + NGL Recovery

Click to EnlargeJoule offers NGL Stabilization/Fractionation Units, which are used to create an easily storable liquid product while recovering more light ends for fuel or sales gas. Each unit is designed and constructed in accordance to the desired product or sales component specifications, such as listed below:
- Stabilized Natural Gas Liquids
- De-Methanized and De-Ethanized Products
- Propane Products
- Butane Products
- Stabilized Natural Gasolines
NGL Storage
Joule offers skid mounted pressurized NGL storage tanks for pressurized product storage. Liquids must be stored under pressure to avoid product vaporization under ambient temperatures.
