Process Engineer II

Position Summary 

This Process Engineer II applies process techniques, analyses, and practices towards the execution of high-quality customer solutions, at a company that values innovation and problem-solving. This position requires collaboration with a dynamic, cross-functional, team to execute a variety of Process deliverables. 

Primary Duties 

  • Prepare process simulation models, for less complex units, using standard simulation programs (HYSYS and/or ProMax), under general supervision, for use in process design and development of deliverables. 
  • Perform basic calculations for Major Equipment, Instrument, and CV & PSV Datasheets. 
  • Develop process engineering deliverables (and aid in the development of inter-discipline deliverables) like PFD’s, Heat and Material Balances, Major Equipment Lists, Equipment Datasheets, Utility Summaries, Line Lists and other process deliverables required for the project, under general supervision. 
  • Assist in P&ID management and redline capture of all comments and quality from Drafting and Design group 
  • Prepare process design basis, under close supervision. 
  • Handle hydraulic calculations for critical lines to ensure that Process design standards are met. 
  • Participate in informal studies and technical briefings with customers, suppliers and other departments/disciplines. 
  • Identify issues (problems, value improvement opportunities) and help clarify areas of complexity during all phases of the engineering design work. 
  • Assist with field start-up and troubleshooting of facilities, from office or site. 

Secondary Duties 

  • Propose process modifications and implement new products and processes that are in-line with the company objective. 
  • Participate in improving current technologies and identifying new technologies. 
  • Support proposal development and marketing. 
  • Evaluate technical and economic aspects of processes related to the technology. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


  • Practical knowledge of plant operations is a plus 
  • Hands-on field experience in commissioning, start-up and performance tests, is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of Process Safety design concepts and documentation requirements. 
  • Command of general chemical engineering principles and calculations. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. 
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, external clients, and management. 
  • Command of general chemical engineering principles and calculations. 
  • Working knowledge of industrial and regulatory standards. 
  • Involvement and knowledge of HAZOP/HAZID/LOPA/SIL safety reviews, is a plus. 
  • Experience with modelling in HYSYS and/or ProMax

Position Requirements 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. 
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in Oil & Gas Industry in process engineering. 
  • Areas of experience desired: process equipment design experience is preferred.
